“Changing My Life By Changing My Choices”
Galatians 6:7-8
Sermon Series: “Unstuck”
Introduction: “Most of us don’t want changed lives. We want changed situations.” That is a quote from Pastor Jud Willhite, and he is exactly right. However, changed lives are what we really need, and we have to change our choices in order to change our lives. Here are three crucial principles that will hopefully give us conviction regarding this.
1. When I make a choice, I am always choosing the consequence because we always reap what we sow. -The Law of the Harvest always works. It is:
A. Reap what I sow
B. Reap more than I sow
C. Reap later than I sow (Pastor Steven Furtick says, “We
get blinded by the lag time.”)
-I can’t keep doing the same things and expect different results. -I am not the exception because there are no exceptions.
-I can’t mock God by living however I want to live and expecting His blessing upon it.
-Every choice I make has eternal consequences as well.
2. If I want a better harvest, I must sow different seeds. In other words, the way to change my life is to stop focusing on the results and start making different choices. It is talking about repentance.
3. However, this is more than willpower because I can only make the right choices by trusting Jesus and allowing His Spirit to control me. There are always consequences to our actions, but the good news is that we can be forgiven because Jesus reaped what we sowed on the cross.
Conclusion: Will we repent and sow different seeds or try to mock God by living how we want and expecting His blessing?
