Jesus Is: Lord

“Jesus Is Lord”

Luke 2:8-14

Sermon Series: “Jesus Is”

Introduction: The angel’s announcement was, “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Romans 10:9 says, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Lord means “master, boss, or ruling authority.” We all have to decide who we are going to truly follow and submit to in life.

Main Idea: Are we going to live like Jesus is a baby in a manger or like He is Lord?

If Jesus really is Lord, how should that affect the way we live?

1. Acknowledge His deity (John 20:24-29). The word, “Lord,” means, “God.” It is another title for Yahweh. When we say that Jesus is Lord, we are acknowledging Him as God. And hopefully, we are acknowledging Him as our personal God. “Jesus is Lord” is the basic confession of faith of the Christian faith. Do you confess Him as your Lord and God?

2. Worship His majesty (Matthew 2:1-11). The one who is Lord is the only one who is worthy of worship. We worship many things, but Jesus is the one who is worth worshipping because of who He is and because of what He has done for us.

3. Submit to His authority (Luke 6:46-7:10). If He is Lord, we are to obey what He says, and we will answer to Him.

Conclusion: Is Jesus your Lord? Are you trusting and confessing Him? Are you worshipping Him? Are you

submitting to Him and demonstrating it with obedience? He is not just a baby in a manger, but He is Lord over all.
