He is Able Part 1: “He Is Able To Save”

“He Is Able To Save”

Hebrews 7:20-28

Sermon Series: “He Is Able”

Introduction: What is God able to do in our lives? We are going to explore that concept over the next 7 weeks. Let me encourage you to look at these statements as promises from God. Let me also encourage us to claim and act on these promises and experience what God has for us because it will be life-changing if we do. Let’s begin today by looking at the foundation of the fact that God is able to save us. He is able to save. What does that really mean?

He Is Able To Save
1. What is the nature of salvation?

  1. It means rescue or deliverance.
  2. He saves us completely.
  3. He saves us permanently.

2. Who is the means of salvation? Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation. Verse 25 says, “He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him [Jesus]” (see also John 14:6, Acts 4:12).

3. Why is Jesus the only means of salvation?
A. He is the eternal God (v. 23-24).
B. He is always making intercession for us (v. 25).
C. He is our perfect High Priest (Hebrews 4:14-16, 9:6-

14, 9:23-28, 10:11-14).
D. He is the sacrifice for our sins (v. 27). It is amazing

that He is the High Priest who offers the sacrifice, and He is the sacrifice itself.

Our Response

Our response is to trust Jesus alone. This is how we are saved (Hebrews 10:38-39, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:12-13). He came and paid the price, and now He is in heaven inviting us to come in.
