“God Is Love”
1 John 4:7-11

Introduction: One of the best known verses in the Bible begins by saying, “For God so loved the world,” which means that He loves everybody. Most of us know on some level that God loves us, although it can be easy to doubt or not feel His love at various times in our lives. Are you really trusting and resting in the love of God right now? Do you really know what God’s love is like? Let’s look at four characteristics of the love of God.
1. God’s nature is love (v. 7-8).
2. God’s love is demonstrated and proven through the death of Jesus on the cross (v. 9-10).
3. God’s love is selfless and sacrificial (v. 9-10).
4. God’s love is a gracious gift that is not based on our worthiness (v. 10).
Conclusion-Our Response:
1. Trust and rest in the love of God through Jesus Christ (v. 12-16).
2. Through the love of God, love God and others. 3. Demonstrate our love through obedience (2:3-6).
