“A Life of Faith”
Hebrews 10:35-39
(I) A Life of Endurance vs. 35-36
A. The Danger of Disappearing Faith! vs. 35
I John 2:19 “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.”
B. The Delight of Distinctive Faith! vs. 36
I John 5:11-13 “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
(II) A Life of Expectation! vs. 37
A. The Truth of our Lord’s Return! vs. 37a
John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
B. The Timing of our Lord’s Return! vs. 37b
Luke 21:28 “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
(III) A Life of Encouragement! vs. 38-39
A. The Application of Saving Faith! vs. 38
I Cor. 2:1-5 “And I, brethren, when I came to you,
did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”
B. The Assurance of Saving Faith! vs.39
I Peter 1:6-9 “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuinenss of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith – the salvation of your souls.”
